Benissa / Costa Blanca North

Benissa
Benissa is the oldest and prettiest of the inland towns of the area with small coves between cliffs, and beautiful mountainous countryside. Here the sea and the mountains come together to create stunning landscapes. Although Benissa is located inland, it also has 4 kilometres of beautiful coastline. Basically here you have everything you need: views of the Mediterranean, the weather, wild nature, the quality of the light and the towns’ architecture. The area is ideal for holidays all year round.

The town is small, but enchanting with its medieval architecture and charming squares. The houses of 17th and 18th century were magnificently restored, so taking a stroll around Benissa's perfectly conserved Historic Centre is a true pleasure. Ironwork balconies and heraldic shields decorate the historic buildings that line the narrow streets of the town.

Beaches

The stretch of coastline between Calpe and Moraira is home to a number of quiet relaxing bays. Whether they have sand, gravel or pebbles, they all enjoy crystal clear waters revealing the marvellous, rocky sea beds so appreciated by diving and sailing enthusiasts. . The scenery is magnificent; spectacular rocks contrasting with the high mountain backdrop. From many points the emblematic Peñon can be seen.

Playa La Fustera is a blue flag beach of fine natural sand dominated by the majestic meadows of Posidonia oceanica (sea-grass) that reign over the seabed and equipped with all the facilities that the public demand.
The Baladrar cove is a lovely gate to the Mediterranean with pine trees leaning out towards the blue sea.
The little beach of Cala Els Pinets is south-facing and made up of small pebbles. You can take part on an excursion from there (on foot) to a magic place called "Mar Morta i Roques Negres", which means Dead Sea and black stones. It’s a small shallow inlet of sea.
Cala Llobela is the smallest and most savage bay of them all; the pine trees reach right down to the sea and little pebbles form the beach. It’s an ideal place to practice diving in its clear waters. With gravel and boulders, it is a rustic and very little frequented creek at which enjoying the pleasure of bathing practically alone.
In Cala Advocat beach there is the breakwater, where you can moor your sailing boat. There is a small jetty used to anchor sailing boats along the beach. Fishing from the breakwater is very popular here.
